Biography

Like the gritty Mississippi River, Eric Pettit Lion can't stop. And won't stop. Which is what happens when a band fine tunes a sound and hits their stride. EP Lion has morphed into a mainstay in the Iowa music scene. The family duo of Pettit and Ed Mansheim are at the helm with Micah Oleson on bass and vocals, Chris Robbins on peddle steal/fiddle/guitar and Pete Korb on percussion.

Since the burgeoning sessions, which debuted the album We are in Rome (2013), EP Lion has created two more full length albums including Lion (2014) Electric Lies (2016) then the EP, One Shot (2017) and their most recent EP, Brotherly (2019) keep the momentum of this dynamic band archived. Their Americana sound has developed over the last decade into something fantastic. The interplay between Robbin's pedal steal combined with Mansheim’s undulating lead guitar, Oleson’s refreshing bass lines, and Pettit's vocals only get more satisfyingly complex as they continue to create new music. The vocal power that is the Lion is stronger than ever with three part harmonies as well as each singing lead on select songs.

EP Lion continue the classic river metaphor by creating music that everyone can relate to with the passage of time. Brazenly raw music about real issues with real consequences heading downstream. And just like the band, the river won't stop, it can't.
